The West Chester University Wind Bands welcome composer Frank Ticheli to campus for a residency and celebration of his music. The Chamber Winds introduces the concert with a performance of his Songs of Love and Life. The Concert Band begins its performance with Ticheli’s Joy Revisited and follows with his classic Cajun Folks Songs and Vesuvius.

Composer Frank Ticheli joins the WCU Wind Bands to kick off the spring semester. The Wind Symphony opens the program with Kimberly Archer’s Fanfare Politeia followed by Ticheli’s Lifestream and Shenandoah. The Wind Ensemble welcomes Ticheli to the podium in a performance highlighted by his Symphony No. 2.

High School bands from opposite sides of the Commonwealth will be featured in the Fifth Annual “East Meets West” Invitational concert. Hollidaysburg and Easton High Schools will represent their communities as two of the state’s most outstanding high school wind bands.

The Concert Band presents its final performance of the year with contemporary works including Omar Thomas’ Forward Still and Erika Svanoe’s Tutued Toucan. Nicole Piunno’s Bright Shadow Fanfare heralds in the Wind Symphony’s performance. Solos by concerto competition winners and John Williams’ Dartmoor, 1912 round out this exciting evening of wind band music.

The Wind Ensemble concludes its season of performances with music celebrating our nation’s semiquincentennial. Commissioned by the United States Marine Band, Bravado by Gala Flagello opens the concert. Jim Stephenson’s Declaration and Michael Daugherty’s Passacaglia in Primary Colors inspired by the art works of American artist Andy Warhol conclude the performance.
